The Mookerji Foundation held a blood drive in the city recently and collected over 90 units of blood from volunteers.

With Dengue at its peak in Mysore, the requirement for blood has gone up and there is a huge shortage of blood in city hospitals. Jeevandhara Blood Bank requested Mookerji Foundation to conduct a blood drive as they needed blood. Despite constraints of time, the Foundation was able to collect a large number of units of blood, beyond initial expectations. Ms Nirmala Sitharaman, Honorable Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Govt of India, who was on a visit to the city graced the occassion by lighting a lamp of hope. Volunteers donating blood included employees of Bioclinica (led by Vembu Krishnamurthy), Softvision, Wipro, the security (Classic Security) and housekeeping (Gajamukh) staff working at Silver Spirit Tech Park.

Ms Sophie Mookerji, Chairperson of the Mookerji Foundation said: “It is a humbling moment for the Foundation to be able to support the city, at a time of crisis like this. The efforts shall be continued by the Foundation to extend whatever support we can do to help the city of Mysuru.”
